SAFE CRIBS PROGRAM

The Safe Cribs for Missouri program provide portable cribs and safe sleep education to low-income families who have no other resources for obtaining a crib. The program is administered by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) within the Office of Childhood, through federal funding from the Maternal Child Health Services Block Grant (Title V) and state funding from the Children’s Trust Fund. The overall goal of the program is to support families and reduce the risk of sleep-related infant deaths.

It is important to create a safe sleep environment for your baby. To qualify for participation, the Safe Crib program guidelines include:

  • Be eligible for WIC
  • Be eligible or using Missouri Medicaid or have an income level less than 185% federal poverty level
  • Be at 35 weeks gestation or post-partum
  • If post-partum the infant should be less than 3 months old
  • A Missouri resident
