Johnson County Community Health Services (JCCHS) is excited to bring a new therapy service to the region. Individuals diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease now have access to LSVT BIG Therapy to help improve functions and motor skills.
JCCHS Home Health brings LSVT BIG Therapy as an addition to the department’s award-winning services. JCCHS Home Health has a team of experienced physical and occupational therapists certified in BIG Therapy services.
What is LSVT BIG Therapy
LSVT BIG Therapy is an intensive, effective, one-on-one treatment created to help people with Parkinson’s disease and other neurological conditions address walking, balance, and other activities of daily living. It provides a one-on-one, individualized program designed to adapt to the severity of the disease and specialized to each person’s needs.
“JCCHS continues to look for ways to provide needed services for our patients. We are one of the only agencies in the region that offers LSVT BIG Therapy. Our team realized that there is a need in our area for this unique therapy service,” said Stephanie Truex, JCCHS Administrator.
Our highly trained nursing staff can also help individuals with Parkinson’s Disease by instructing in medications and management of other non-motor symptoms.
If you or someone you know has Parkinson’s Disease, then ask your physician if BIG Therapy is right for you. The JCCHS Home Health team is available for referrals. Services are provided in the patient’s home. Requirements include:
- Must be homebound – the JCCHS Home Health team can help verify these criteria.
- Patient must live in Johnson, Pettis or Lafayette counties.
- Patient must have had a face-to-face encounter with a physician within 90 days of the start of service.
