Johnson County Community Health Services WIC Announces Walk-in Tuesdays

WARRENSBURG, MISSOURI (December 20, 2018) – The Johnson County Community Health Services WIC (Women, Infants and Children) Program is excited to announce a new initiative starting in January of 2019.  Beginning Tuesday, January 8, the WIC Office will offer “Walk-In Tuesdays”.  Every Tuesday, WIC participants or those interested in participating can take advantage of services with no appointment needed.

We realize that new and expecting families are busy and have very hectic schedules.  Our hope is that by offering Walk-In Tuesdays families can take advantage of all the great WIC services at times that are convenient for them.  Walk-In Tuesdays along with our clinic locations in Knob Noster and Holden are a few of the ways we are working with our communities to improve their quality of life.

WIC offers nutrition education, breastfeeding education and support, health promotion, supplemental foods and referrals to other health programs and community services that help families eat healthy and stay well.  Nutritious foods provided by WIC include milk, cheese, yogurt, tofu, eggs, beans, whole grains, juice, fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables and infant foods through a personalized food package.  WIC also provides breast pumps, personalized education and support by our Lactation Consultants on staff.

WIC is a temporary support program that in accordance with Federal civil rights law and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) civil rights regulations and policies, the USDA, its Agencies, offices, and employees, and institutions participating in or administering USDA programs are prohibited from discriminating based on race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, or reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity in any program or activity conducted or funded by USDA.

More in information is available on the Johnson County Community Health Services web site at www.johnsoncountyhealth.org or check us out on Facebook under Johnson County Community Health Services.  This institution is an equal opportunity provider and employer.
